Repeater contract for Unity

22 Aug 2006

The Canadian equipment vendor Unity Wireless has been awarded a USD400,000 contract to supply GSM repeaters to an unnamed Turkish cellco. The order is due for delivery by the end of next month. GSM repeaters enable cellcos to fill in gaps in their network coverage without installing additional base stations. Turkey’s three cellular operators, Turkcell, Telsim and Avea, had around 48.5 million subscribers between them at the end of June according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database.
