Two-thirds of Malaysia’s 17.6 million pre-paid mobile SIM cardholders have yet to register with their network operators, with less than four months to go before the government’s deadline, according to local newspaper The Star. The mandatory nationwide registration of pre-paid users began late last year and failure to do so by 15 December will see lines forcibly cut off. The Government will not extend the deadline and the Malaysian Communications & Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will today team up with mobile operators Maxis Communications, Celcom and DiGi Telecommunications to ramp up awareness of the registration process.
