Telecoms Act set for October; end of C&W monopoly in sight?

17 Aug 2006

According to Antiguan Minister of State for Information, Broadcasting and Telecommunications, Dr. Edmond Mansoor, by mid-October the island will have a new Telecommunications Act which will liberalise the telecoms market and end the Cable & Wireless monopoly on international calls before the official end date of 2012. ‘The new Telecommunications Act has been essentially completed and has been circulated to some of the stakeholders. It will go to Cabinet shortly for their acceptance and very shortly thereafter, I anticipate it will go to parliament,’ Mansoor added.
