Bakrie reports strong revenues on subscriber growth

Indonesian CDMA fixed wireless operator Bakrie Telecom says its revenues doubled in the first six month of this year to IDR254.1 billion (USD28.1 million), up from IDR101.8 billion in 1H 2005, according to reports in the Jakarta Post. The operator posted net profits of IDR14.4 billion, reversing a loss of IDR87.4 billion a year ago, on the back of a phenomenal rise in customers which reached 1.1 million by end-June, up from 249,000 in June 2005. Bakrie Telecom plans to invest approximately IDR1 trillion in its fixed wireless network – marketed under the brand name Esia – and aims to increase its customer base to 1.6 million by the end of 2006.
