Apax eyes M-Net and Netcologne

Private equity firm Apax is reported by German financial daily Handelsblatt as being interested in acquiring a number of local service providers and has identified M-Net in Munich and Cologne-based Netcologne as being of particular interest. According to the report Apax would be willing to pay up to EUR400 million from its own reserves per transaction, with typically two thirds of capital investment coming from exterior sources. AOL, United Internet and Freenet are other resellers which could also be possible takeover candidates.
