According to the results of a recent survey carried out by Millward-Brown IMS on behalf of ComReg, around 73% of SMEs in Ireland are connected to the internet, and of those, 74% are using some form of broadband solution. Irish news portal Electricnews.net reports that these connections include satellite and other wireless links, but are ‘most commonly’ standard DSL phone line connections. The latest figures mark an improvement on a similar study carried out in October 2005 which found that nearly half of small- to medium-sized businesses used broadband. Today just over half, or 52.5%, are connecting via a high speed link says ComReg. The regulator’s latest survey also revealed that some 95% of corporates use the internet, with 85% of those using some form of broadband internet connection.
