11 Aug 2006

Greece’s third largest mobile operator TIM Hellas’ second quarter revenues rose 9.7% year-on-year to EUR238.2 million, up from EUR217.1 million in 2Q 2005, whilst EBITDA increased by 45.2% to EUR81.1 million and EBITDA margin stood at 34% (25.7%). However, the company posted a net loss of EUR11.2 million in the three months to the end of June due to its loan obligations stemming from its acquisition by US private equity funds Apax Partners and Texas Pacific and debt from the acquisition of fixed line and wireless operator Q-Telecom. TIM Hellas’ total subscriber base was up 12.8% at close to 2.55 million after it added 68,783 net new customers in the period. Q-Telecom also continues to grow, reporting 979,705 mobile subscribers at the end of June, up 14.7% from a year earlier.
