In the first six months of 2006 Telecom Argentina reported a 30% increase in consolidated net revenue to ARS3.36 billion (USD1.09 billion), fuelled by the expansion of its cellular business (sales up 57%) and broadband businesses (up 26%). This was partially offset by higher interconnection expenses and direct taxes on revenues. Operating profit before depreciation and amortisation increased by ARS147 million, reaching ARS1.12 billion. Net income fell ARS359 million to ARS99 million, mainly due to exchange rate fluctuations.
