Mexican alternative fixed line operator Axtel has launched fixed-wireless services in Irapuato city in Guanajuato state, according to BNAmericas. The telco says it will invest USD15 million in its networks and services in the city over the next five years. Axtel targets markets where there is little competition in the local telephony sector other than from fixed line incumbent Telmex. Irapuato is the third city in Guanajuato state in which Axtel has launched services, after León and Celaya. It plans to have networks in 30 to 40 cities by the end of 2007, including five new locations by the end of this year.
