Nokia wins with Chunghwa

9 Aug 2006

Chunghwa Telecom has chosen Nokia to supply additional 3G and 3.5G high speed mobile networks. Nokia will provide WCDMA and HSDPA equipment to bolster Chunghwa’s existing next-generation cellular systems. Chang Shaio-Tung, president of Chunghwa’s Mobile Business Group, commented: ‘This expansion is an important step forward for CHT, as the Taiwanese market is extremely competitive. We need to improve our network capability constantly and keep abreast of mobile technology developments for offering high-quality services to our subscribers.’ Chunghwa had 8.21 million mobile subscribers, including 328,000 3G customers, at the end of March, according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database.
