TeliaSonera trials DVB-H TV broadcast with Nokia

8 Aug 2006

Scandinavian mobile operator TeliaSonera has launched trials of DVB-H mobile TV broadcasts in Gothenburg, Sweden, using equipment supplied by Nokia, reports Telecompaper. The service initially comprises five channels – SVT1, SVT2, TV4, Kanal 5 and Eurosport – and will feature digital broadcasts of track and field events from the European Athletics Championships being held in the city. A second testing phase is planned for September, when 50 Stockholm families will be issued with DVB-H enabled mobile phones to watch around ten channels. TeliaSonera previously tested a similar service in Finland.
