Maxis 3G hits 150,000 five months early

4 Aug 2006

Malaysian telco Maxis Communications says it wireless unit Maxis Mobile has signed up 150,000 users to its 3G service five months ahead of schedule. ‘We originally have 150,000 as a target for the year-end, and now it’s August and we have already achieved it,’ Maxis senior general manager of products and new businesses Dr Nikolai Dobberstein told the Business Times. He attributed the strong growth to an aggressive marketing campaign throughout the soccer World Cup 2006 and the falling prices of 3G handsets.
