Bharti Airtel, India’s biggest mobile phone company by subscribers, has signed an agreement with IBM to launch a new service delivery platform offering range of new products, services and applications to its customers, the telco said in a statement. Bharti says it will invest over USD100 million in the platform, which will enable it to ‘have an integrated environment that will incorporate all of Airtel’s content and applications services under one platform.’ The agreement follows a USD759 million contract signed with IBM in 2004 for outsourcing the bulk of Bharti’s IT services, including billing and customer management, internal e-mail systems and the company’s intranet.
