State-run Telekom Malaysia™ has posted a 4% rise in second quarter net profit, up to MYR464.4 million (USD126.1 million), on the back of a 19.7% rise in revenues to MYR3.98 billion; EBITDA was up 2.6% to MYR1.75 billion. Much of the increase can be attributed to TM’s mobile business, with the group’s wireless customer base rising 66% year-on-year to end June 2006 with 23.9 million subscribers. TM’s mobile businesses include PT Excelcomindo Pratama in Indonesia, Sri Lanka’s Dialog Telekom and TM International in Bangladesh. In the fixed line arena, TM’s broadband business is spurring growth, with high speed internet customers up 14% y-o-y to 639,000.
TM declared an interim dividend of MYR0.16 per share compared with MYR0.1 per share a year earlier.
