Bell Canada adds 47,000 high speed internet users, 90,000 mobile subs

3 Aug 2006

Bell Canada posted revenues for the second quarter of 2006 of CAD4.296 billion (USD3.8 billion), up 0.9% year-on-year, driven by double-digit revenue growth from services such as wireless, high speed internet and ICT solutions. 106,000 new post-paid mobile customers were offset by the cancellation of inactive pre-paid accounts; total net new mobile subscribers stood at 90,000 in the quarter, taking its total wireless base to 5.59 million at the end of June. Broadband internet subscriptions were up 14.1% year-on-year to 2.31 million; Bell Canada said that although net broadband additions of 47,000 were down compared to the second quarter of 2005, subscriber growth picked up month by month.
