TEM plotting GSM rollout in Venezuela

Telefónica Móviles (TEM)’s subsidiary Movistar Venezuela is considering rolling out a GSM network to align its operations with its sister companies across Latin America. Movistar currently offers services over CDMA IS-95, CDMA2000 1x and 1xEV-DO networks; at the end of June 2006 it led the market with 7.065 million subscribers. No timetable for a GSM deployment has yet been announced.
