27 Jul 2006

French broadband ISP Free, part of the Iliad group, has announced plans to launch a 28Mbps service for unbundled Freebox customers, writes Telecompaper. Free, which already offers the higher speed connection to some customers, says it intends to make 28Mbps available to all unbundled Free customers by using the Nitro function developed by Broadcom. Free expects over 75% of its broadband subscribers to be receiving unbundled services by the end of the year, compared to 70.2% at the end of 2005.
