DoF maintains fiscal incentive stance

26 Jul 2006

The Department of Finance has reiterated its policy of not granting fiscal incentives to services-based companies with a domestic focus, including mobile operators Smart and Globe. ‘It’s not good to give incentives to domestic-oriented service firms because they will invest anyway, with or without the incentives,’ a source from the finance department said. Smart and Globe have previously said that they need fiscal and non-fiscal incentives from the government to aid with the rollout of 3G technology.
