Finnish telco Elisa Corporation posted improved second-quarter sales, boosted by strong performance at its mobile unit, and repeated its forecast for better 2006 sales and profits. Elisa’s revenues rose to EUR382 million in the three months ended 30 June 2006, up from EUR336 a year earlier, beating analysts’ estimates. Excluding non-recurring items, pre-tax profit reached EUR40 million, up from EUR26 million, and EBITDA increased from EUR84 million to EUR100 million.
Elisa ended March with 2.06 million mobile subscribers and 1.35 million fixed line subscriptions in Finland, including 472,532 broadband customers. It had 283,500 mobile users in Estonia at that date.
