Brazil mobile subs fall after Vivo changes counting policy

25 Jul 2006

According to data released by regulatory body Anatel, the number of wireless subscribers in Brazil fell 0.67% in June to 91.8 million. This is the first time a fall has occurred since Anatel began tracking month-to-month data in 1999. Part of the reason for the decline is the decision taken by market leader Vivo to cease counting 1.8 million inactive accounts.
