MegaFon preparing trio of launches

MegaFon says it expects to provide cellular services in three new Russian regions before the end of the year. The firm says it hopes to launch networks in the Altai Region and the constituent republic of Khakasia before October, with services in the Omsk Region switched on in the fourth quarter. Prime Tass reports that the cellco plans to deploy more than 100 base stations in each region by the time of launch, with equipment supplied by Huawei of China. MegaFon had just over 26 million subscribers by the end of June.
