20 Jul 2006

Ericsson has been selected to upgrade Bite’s 3G network in Lithuania with HSDPA and to build an HSDPA-enabled W-CDMA network in Latvia. Under the terms of the deal Ericsson will deliver HSDPA hardware, software and implementation services allowing Bite to launch a new generation of mobile services, including mobile broadband, TV and music. According to an Ericsson press release Bite has been trialling HSDPA services at speeds of up to 3.6Mbps in Lithuania since 7 June. The Latvian network will initially deliver the same speed, though by the end of the year it is anticipated that both networks will be able to offer peak download speeds of up to 14Mbps.
