Chunghwa pushes 3G

18 Jul 2006

Chunghwa Telecom says it is reducing the number of 2G and 2.5G phone models it offers, while adding to its 3G range in an effort to encourage take-up of next-generation services. According to DiGi Times, the firm will reduce its 2G and 2.5G range from 150 models to 100, while increasing its 3G range from 20 to 30 phones. Of the 1.2 million handsets to be procured by Chunghwa in the second half of 2006, 800,000 are expected to be 3G models.
