Vodafone sues TI

Vodafone has filed a lawsuit in Italy, accusing the country’s largest telco of abusing its dominant position. UK newspaper The Sunday Telegraph says Vodafone’s writ, which was filed in Milan, claims Telecom Italia (TI) has been ‘illicitly exploiting its position on the fixed line market to strengthen its position on the mobile market to the detriment of competitors’. TI is the country’s largest wireline operator and its subsidiary TIM is the largest player in the Italian mobile market, with 29.66 million subscribers at the end of March, ahead of Vodafone which had 18.49 million at the same date.
