Telstra decision 'within weeks'

According to Finance Minister Nick Minchin, the Australian government will decide ‘within weeks’ whether or not to push ahead with the AUD25 billion (USD19 billion) sale of Telstra. Parliament approved the sale last year but the government has yet to give the final green light. Earlier this month Prime Minister John Howard said that his administration was still committed to selling its 51.8% stake in Telstra despite sharp falls in the telco’s share price.
