Russian cellular operator MegaFon says it now has 1,750 base stations in the Moscow Licence Area (MLA), up from 1,700 on 22 May. The firm says 75% of base stations currently support EDGE technology, with this set to rise to 100% by year-end, by which time it expects to have 2,000 base stations in service in the MLA. MegaFon had 4.3 million users in and around Moscow by the end of June.
