DoCoMo to receive HTC’s Windows-equipped phones

13 Jul 2006

Taiwan’s High Tech Computer Corp (HTC), one of the world’s largest suppliers of cellphones based on the Microsoft Windows operating system, yesterday announced a supply deal with NTT DoCoMo of Japan, deliveries for which will begin next month. The announcement follows the signing of an agreement between the pair back in January and makes DoCoMo HTC’s first Japanese customer. The handset maker already has a strong foothold in Europe where it counts Vodafone Group, Deutsche Telekom’s T-Mobile and Orange among its customers. In a statement HTC said the Japanese operator plans to begin selling a HTC-branded phone, code-named hTc Z, before the end of this month.
