A lawsuit filed by Russian cellco Vimpelcom against wireless spectrum authorities will be heard next month. The suit, in which Vimpelcom is claiming that the State Radio Frequency Commission has wrongfully failed to issue licences covering Russia’s Far East Federal District, will go before Moscow Arbitration Court on 14 August reports Prime Tass. The telco currently holds spectrum in just four of the Far East’s 13 regions, while rivals MTS and MegaFon have concessions covering the whole District.
Meanwhile, the same court has postponed until 23 August a case in which Motorola is claiming RUB291 million compensation for defamation. The vendor says Russian firm RussGPS has issued misleading statements concerning patents held by RussGPS and used by Motorola.
