Bob angers rival

Telekom Austria’s plans to win low-end cellular users with its discount brand ‘Bob’ have led to a complaint from one of its rivals. T-Mobile, which recently acquired smaller operator tele.ring to cement its position as Austria’s second largest cellco, says the new offer uses ‘deceptive packaging’, according to a report from the Financial Times. Further details of its complaint have not been released. Telekom Austria’s cellular division Mobilkom had 3.44 million subscribers at the end of March compared with around 3.12 million at the combined T-Mobile/tele.ring. Deutsche Telekom subsidiary T-Mobile says it expects to have taken the lead in the Austrian cellular market by the end of the year.
