Europe gets tough over telecoms regulation

10 Jul 2006

The European Commission (EC) says it will report Poland, Latvia and Finland to the European Court of Justice for not obeying EU telecoms rules unless they make sweeping changes. The EC claims that Poland and Latvia have both failed to provide comprehensive telephone directory and directory enquiry services, whilst Finland has not given its national regulator the power to regulate fixed-to-mobile calls. It has given the governments of the three countries two months to reply.
