Microsoft, Bouygues to collaborate on music service

7 Jul 2006

Microsoft and Bouygues Télécom have announced plans to collaborate on the launch of a new mobile music service in France in 2007. In a joint statement the pair said that Windows Media software would be incorporated in a ‘next-generation music offering’ to be launched in France in 1H 2007. Bouygues cellphones will be tailored for the new service, allowing it to deliver content either wirelessly to mobile handsets or via the Internet to Windows-based personal computers, the company said. The cellco’s handsets will also be able to play music downloaded from more than 100 online music services around the globe and also support music content ‘ripped’ from CDs.
