According to BNamericas, Brazil’s largest internet service provider (ISP)Terra has snapped up 55% of subscribers of the now defunct local unit of regional ISP America Online Latin America (AOLA). Terra, a subsidiary of Telefónica of Spain, signed a USD1.9 million agreement with AOLA to take over its Brazilian client base, and to date has captured 55,000 of the latter’s 100,000 former clients. AOLA made a request for bankruptcy protection in June last year and in December submitted to a US bankruptcy court a request to transfer its clients in Brazil to Terra.
