Tricom slashes US call costs

28 Jun 2006

Dominican Republic operator Tricom has slashed its fixed line tariffs for calls to the US down to DOP0.95 per minute (USD0.03), the same price it charges for domestic telephony, according to Dominican Today. The move targets locals with family in the US, and is the latest in a long line of price reductions by Tricom as it looks to compete more effectively with incumbent Verizon Dominicana. Last year the operator eliminated all of its inter-regional pricing options, introducing a standard tariff for all domestic calls.
