Telco plans cellular consolidation

Russian carrier VolgaTelecom has revealed that it expects to complete the consolidation of its mobile units by the second quarter of next year. The telco has stakes in eight cellular operators: Nizhny Novgorod Cellular Communications (NSS), RTKOM, Ulyanovsk GSM, Orenburg GSM, Tatincom-T, Saratov Mobile, Penza Mobile and Chuvashia Mobile. According to a report from Prime Tass, VolgaTelecom plans to acquire 100% of all eight cellcos and unify them under the NSS name.
