Australia’s fixed line incumbent Telstra Corp will cut 2,590 jobs over the next 24 months as part of its target to slash its workforce by more than a fifth by 2010, according to Bloomberg. An estimated 1,255 positions will be cut from its operations division, 1,220 from consumer marketing and 115 from finance and administration, Telstra Chief Financial Officer John Stanhope told staff in an e-mail, which was forwarded to Bloomberg News by spokeswoman Sarah McKinnon.
