19 Jun 2006

Spanish 3G start-up Xfera Móviles has resurrected a six year-old contract with Ericsson to provide W-CDMA base station equipment for 450 sites in the country, according to local press reports. Xfera first struck the deal with Ericsson in October 2000. The renewed agreement comes days after Scandinavian telco TeliaSonera formalised a plan to takeover the troubled operator. Xfera hopes to launch commercial 3G services before the end of the year.
