Russian telco Golden Telecom has announced the launch of ‘full-scale’ operations in the Russian Republic of Tatarstan. Golden Telecom acquired a 70% stake in Tatar Intellectual Communications (Tatintelcom), an internet service provider operating in the region, in March 2006. Tatintelecom offers broadband internet access services to corporate clients. The company said that it plans to develop broadband services in Kazan and other districts of Tatarstan and will eventually shift its focus from corporate clients to consumers.
