T-Mobile Deutschland chief anticipates lower sales

15 Jun 2006

T-Mobile Deutschland CEO Philipp Humm has confirmed that the cellco expects lower sales in the near future because of declining prices. ‘There is overcapacity in the market and lots of room on the price side,’ he told Financial Times Deutschland. Humm expects price models will continue to adjust until Q2 2007, and that in coming years he anticipates growth of only around 3% per annum, mainly from data services. He went on to say that Germans spend relatively little time using their mobiles, something he hopes to change. According to TeleGeography’s Wireless Operator Metrics, minutes of use in Germany are among the lowest in the world.
