13 Jun 2006

Zimbabwe’s third largest mobile phone operator Telecel has taken delivery of new mobile switching equipment that could expand its network capacity by up to a million subscribers. Tests are being conducted on the soft-switch equipment, which was supplied by Huawei Technologies, ahead of a plan to issue 70,000 new GSM lines in August. Telecel, which had 129,391 subscribers at the end of December 2005, aims to increase its customer base to 500,000 at the end of the year.
