India’s Reliance Infocomm last week submitted an application to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) for GSM spectrum in the Delhi and Mumbai circles, according to the Financial Express citing unnamed sources. A Reliance spokesperson declined to comment on the application.

Operating under the IndiaMobile brand, Reliance offers CDMA services in twenty of India’s telecoms circles, and GSM services in eight circles, mainly in the east of the country. It is by far the country’s largest CDMA-based mobile provider, but the third smallest GSM operator.
