12 Jun 2006

A survey by Australian telco Singtel Optus has found that the percentage of mobile subscribers accessing e-mail services via their wireless handsets tripled to 9% in 2005, up from 3% in 2004. The survey, carried out by Woolcott Research on behalf of Optus in April 2006, also discovered that access of e-mail on laptops via Wi-Fi hotspots or cellular networks more than doubled in the year; 15% of full time workers used Wi-Fi hotspots to access work e-mail, whilst 13% used a laptop with mobile connectivity.
