South African cellular operator Vodacom has posted record financial results thanks to strong customer growth. The firm signed 6.4 million new customers in South Africa in the year to the end of March 2006, taking its total user base to 19.2 million and giving it a 58% market share. The growth helped push domestic revenues to ZAR31 billion in the financial year to 31 March, from ZAR25 billion in 2004/05. International activities added another ZAR3 billion in sales. Net profit was up 32% to ZAR5.1 billion.
