PeterStar announces WiMAX campaign

Russian alternative telco PeterStar plans to launch a WiMAX network in Kaliningrad in late 2006 or early 2007, according to a statement released to the press on Friday. The St. Petersburg-based operator aims to follow up the launch by extending the network to other Russian cities. The company reported that it has invested USD1.2 million since February in infrastructure in Kaliningrad, including a metropolitan fibre-optic and copper cable network spanning 80km.
