Canadian telco SaskTel has contracted French vendor Alcatel to provide it with a triple-play solution as part of a USD32 million rollout scheduled to commence by the end of June. SaskTel will deploy Alcatel’s IP portfolio and access solutions as part of its Next Generation Access Infrastructure initiative to provide bandwidth of up to 40Mbps and enable new services such as high definition TV and VoIP. Alcatel has previously provided the operator with its IP/MPLS, optical and access solutions as well as its middleware platform for TV services. SaskTel’s Max Entertainment Services currently include high speed internet access, television, radio and music channels, as well as Video on Demand (VoD).
