Megacable teams up with local telco for triple-play

2 Jun 2006

Mexican cable operator Megacable has launched a new triple-play service in Guadalajara in partnership with telco Bestphone, according to BNamericas citing news sources. Megacable will invest USD20 million in the service, christened Megafon, which has been launched to counter the continued absence of legislation allowing for cable operators to provide triple-play services over their own networks. Guadalajara-based Megacable operates one of Mexico’s largest cable television systems – a 96% two-way HFC network covering 38 major cities. Bestphone, a unit of Bestel has an extensive fibre-optic network covering 30 cities.
