Malaysian local telco NasionCom has revealed plans to roll out a USD55 million nationwide WiMAX network by the end of the year. The company will launch the service in partnership with Intel Corp and Deutsche Telekom, and is currently evaluating bids from vendors to build the high speed wireless broadband network. WiMAX trials held in the Klang Valley last year had ‘exceeded expectations,’ NasionCom executive director Peter Tham told Nikkei Electronics Asia. The telco is hoping to launch commercial services in Kuala Lumpur as early as September, with other major towns and cities to follow incrementally.
