Hungarian fixed line operator Invitel, says it plans to spend at least HUF1 billion (USD4.89 million) to develop its broadband internet network in 2006, with the aim of boosting subscriber numbers from 62,000 to 80,000. The total looks set to be boosted still further by the company’s recent acquisition of ISP Euroweb, which has more than 30,000 broadband customers, mainly ADSL. Invitel says it also hopes to double Euroweb’s by the end of the year. The pair also serve about 90,000 dial-up customers.
