According to Telegeography’s GlobalComms database, Malaysia’s mobile operators added 1.006 million net new subscribers in the first quarter of 2006 to take the country’s total wireless customer base to 20.509 million. At that date Maxis Mobile had a 40% share of the market, Celcom took 36% and DiGi Telecom 25%. According to estimates, 3G subscribers totalled just 120,000, up from 70,000 at the start of the year.
