Celcom to expand 3G network

Celcom, the wireless unit of Telekom Malaysia, intends to expand its 3G network to Alor Star and a number of towns and cities this year, Telekom’s chairman Tan Sri Md Radzi Mansor told the BERNAMA news agency. Celcom launched 3G services in May 2005 and its W-CDMA network now covers major locations including the Klang Valley, Penang, Melaka, Johor Bahru, Genting Highlands, and Sungai Petani and Kulim in Kedah. It currently has around 65,000 3G subscribers, according to Mansor.
