Partner returns to quarterly profit

Partner Communications, Israel’s second largest mobile phone operator, said its first quarter net income rose 29%, its first profit rise in three quarters, on the back of strong subscriber growth. Quarterly profit rose to ILS160.4 million (USD34.4 million), up from ILS124.5 million a year earlier, on the back of a 5.3% increase in revenues, up to ILS1.3 billion; EBITDA was ILS438.6 million. Partner, which operates under the Orange brand name, ended March with 2.56 million subscribers, of which 120,000 were 3G users.
